Ernest Pérez-Mas, CEO of Parlem Telecom Group, discusses the company’s success case at the MVOs World Congress 2022, the world virtual mobile operator event held in the capital of Germany

Parlem Telecom is set to continue growing beyond Catalonia with the aim of becoming, in the long term, a reference of a proximity-telecommunications group, encompassing several European regional operators. This business model was presented by Ernest Pérez-Mas, CEO of the Parlem Telecom Group, at the World Congress of Virtual Mobile Operators held in Berlin. In his speech at the MVNOs World Congress 2022, Pérez-Mas noted that the success of the Parlem Telecom project is largely due to the company’s strong commitment to the customer in a cultural community with its own particularities, such as the Catalan one. “We offer Catalonia a proximity service, which differentiates us from the large operators, since we know first hand the needs of the user and the territory where he lives and works”, he argued.

In the context of the Telecomunications Congress, Pérez-Mas asserted that the model developed in Catalonia by his company, in which factors such as price or product are not the most decisive in recruiting new customers, is perfectly applicable in other regions with a distinct identity at linguistic and/or cultural level. In this regard, he has detailed that the Parlem Telecom Group launched in 2021, Aproop Telecom, a telecommunications operator aimed at the community of the Valencian Country, and is studying for the future the creation of new brands in other territories within the European continent.

In his exhibition at the MVNOs World Congress 2022, the CEO of Parlem Telecom advanced that in the next few years there will be a progressive ‘concentration in the telecommunications sector’ in Europe, which will lead to ever-increasing supranational operators dominating the market. In this scenario, Pérez-Mas believes that “the niche of the regional proximity-telecommunications will be maintained” and that Parlem Telecom must take this opportunity to continue to ally with local operators to create new brands and export their business model. In addition, he pointed out that unlike Spain, which has far greater optical fiber penetration than the continent average, most European states still have many territories in which fiber has not been deployed, which means “an opportunity” for regional operators wishing to grow in areas that have no network.
