The Catalan telecommunications operator joins the Fundació Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya as a partner company

  • The Catalan company joins several CTecno projects to promote the access of new professionals to the Catalan ICT sector by encouraging greater female participation and facilitating university training of young people with few financial resources
  • The agreement also provides for an event featuring a day of debates in which the situation of the Catalan language in the ICT world will be addressed.

Barcelona, 30 March 2021. – Parlem Telecom and the Fundació Cercle Tecnològic de Catalunya (CTecno) have signed a collaboration agreement to promote the Information and Knowledge Society through direct collaboration in the organisation of events, meetings, networking meetings and the generation and dissemination of knowledge within the Catalan ICT sector.

The agreement includes the involvement of Parlem Telecom in two initiatives of CTecno that seek to address the lack of ICT professionals in Catalonia to meet labour demands and at the same time encourage greater diversity in the sector. On the one hand, the operator will participate in the DonaTIC project, which promotes the presence of female professionals in the digital sphere and has devised the DonaTIC Manifesto, which provides an action plan for gender equality in companies with six main areas: publication of vacancies, selection interviews, salary, professional career, co-responsibility and conciliation, and corporate branding and communication. Susana Prado, who is one of the heads of Ctecno’s DonaTIC Working Group, is also a member as a partner company of Parlem Telecom’s Advisory Board.

The second initiative in which Parlem Telecom will collaborate with CTecno is Apadrina TIC, a scholarship program to help enrol students who are financially disadvantaged due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its aim is to finance university degrees in computer engineering and telecommunications and help students receive training to become ICT professionals.

The collaboration agreement, signed by Francesc Bert, head of CTecno companies, and Ernest Pérez-Mas, the CEO of Parlem Telecom, will also make it easier for the telecommunications operator to get involved in the annual Technology in Catalan conferences organised by CTecno, which addresses the challenges of the language in the technology sector and contributes to the dissemination of Catalan in ICT. In this sense, Parlem Telecom is one of the three finalists for the Martí Gasull i Roig 2021 awards, which annually recognise people and organisations that work to defend the Catalan language.

Parlem Telecom and CTecno share technological experience in the territory, value in their projects the potential offered by Catalan and work for ICT innovation to consolidate Catalonia as an international reference hub in this sector. Its collaboration agreement means that a total of 50 companies in the Catalan technology sector are already part of the Ctecno company council.
